Lucia F. Babbitt (1936 - 2014)
ALLENTOWN - Lucia F. Babbitt, 77, of 1155 Whitehill Road, passed away in the Wellsville Manor Care Center on Thursday (July 17, 2014) following a long illness.
She was born in Wellsville on Aug. 23, 1936, a daughter of John and Jennie Watrous Seely. On Jan. 16, 1954, in Allentown, she was married to Richard M. Babbitt, who predeceased her on April 3, 2006.
She was a graduate of the Allentown Union School and was a lifelong resident of the area. She was employed in several local restaurants as a waitress, the last being Long Vue. She was a full-time minister with the Wellsville congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses.
She is survived by two sons, Richard E. (Becky) Babbitt and Bruce L. (Sarah) Babbitt, both of Bolivar; 13 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren; a sister, Beverly (Ernest) Claire of Wellsville; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband; parents; daughter, Teresa Dodson; sons, Richard M. Babbitt Jr. and Donald J. Babbitt; brother, John Seeley; and sister, Doris Bolam.
There will be no visitation. Memorial services will be held in the Wellsville Kingdom Hall, 115 Chamberlain St., at a date and time to be announced. Burial will be at the family's convenience.
Memorials may be made to the Jehovah's Witnesses or a
charity of the donor's choice
Arrangements are under the direction of the Mulholland-Crowell Funeral Home in Wellsville.
