HARVEY SEELEY

A service was held Friday at the Brown Funeral Home, Livonia, for Harvey L. Seeley of Lakeville, who died unexpectedly Wednesday. Dec. 19, 1962, at his home on Rochester Rd. The Rev. Robert Hathaway, pastor of the Lakeville Community Church, officiated at the service, with burial in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. Geneseo.

Mr. Seeley was born Oct. 12, 1877, in Rochester and married Ruby DeLaVergne of Lakeville 57 years ago. Throughout the years he has been active in affairs of the Lakeville community and the town of Livonia.

According to Gazette files, in 1902 a milk "skimming plant" was built in Lakeville and Mr. Seeley was the first manager. In 1904 he joined with Herbert Spears and George Cogswell to build a creamery on the Henry DuBols lot in Lakeville. Business was carried on there until 1907, when the same company built the first building of what was to become the Brown ft Bailey plant under the name of Lakeville Creamery, later changed to Genesee Milk Products Company. The plant was then sold to Brown of Bailey Condensed Milk Company, predecessors of Conesus Milk Producers Cooperative. Mr. Seeley in recent years was employed by the Western New York Milk Producers Association in Rochester. After retiring from this post he had been semi-retired, working his farm with his son, Robert. Honored In 1962 as a 60-year member of Livonia Masonic Lodge, which he Joined Mar.19. 1902. Mr. Seeley joined the Royal Arch Masons here in 1929. He was a charter member of the Lakeville Fire Department and a commissioner of the Lakeville Fire District. A former trustee of the Lakeville Community Church, he was active In the merging of the Lakeville Presbyterian and Christian Churches which brought into being today's Lakeville Community Church, He was a member of the Livonia town board and was a peace Justice from 1921-26. A former member of the county Republican committee, he served in this post for a number of years.

Surviving are his widow, Ruby D. Seeley, one daughter, Mrs. Bessie Glover of Lakeville, two sons. Robert of Lakeville and Kenneth of Conesus, seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren.
