MARY GERALDINE "GERRI" SEELEY

MARY "GERRI" GERALDINE SEELEY (1947 - 2015) Gerri went to be with her Lord and Saviour on February 17, 2015 at 67 years of age, while a patient at Toronto General Hospital, the hospital where she trained as an x-ray technician. Gerri married the love of her life Dennis in 1969. They did everything together and she leaves a big hole in his heart. She worked for many years for Dr. David Dudley in Unionville and she and Dennis moved from Unionville to Stouffville 14 years ago. Gerri was the daughter of Howard and Mary Cosburn of Highway 7, then 16th Avenue in Markham. She is survived by her brother Mac (Jennifer) Cosburn and their daughter Leslie. She was mother to Blair (Jenn) Seeley and to Mary-Lynn (Richard) Warr. She adored her grandchildren: Teghan Warr, Shelby Reesor, Shae-Lynn Seeley, Hamish Warr, Hazel Warr, Brian Seeley and Laura Seeley. Gerri was a lifelong member of Central United Church in Unionville and of Markham Fair. She was a member of the choir, a junior choir leader and she facilitated many studies and programs at the church and chaired many committees at the Fair. Gerri, with the help of her Lord, family and friends, overcame a kidney transplant and very serious cancer, which left her a choice to go to palliative care or come home. Since then she got to the Olympics, to a Rocky Mountaineer trip, an Alaskan cruise and trips to Florida -- and a full, fun-filled and inspiring life with her grandchildren. She has been an inspiration of Faith and Hope and practical things for those who battle cancer. Friends and strangers alike called on her and came to see her. Visitors will be received at Central United Church, 131 Main Street, Unionville, on Friday, February 20th from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A celebration of Gerri's life will be held at the same church on Saturday, April 11th at 2 p.m., with a reception to follow. Flowers may be sent to Chapel Ridge Funeral Home, 8911 Woodbine Avenue, Markham, 905-305-8508, or in lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations in Gerri's memory to Stouffville Christian School.
