EDMUNDS - Gladys M. (Preston) Seeley, 87, died Dec. 24, 2009, at a Machias nursing home. Gladys was born Dec. 2 1922, in Dennysville, to Earl and Bertha (Clark) Preston. She graduated from Dennysville High School before marrying Carl Seeley, in August 1942. Gladys enjoyed making quilts and sewing. She was a member of Dennysville Congregational Church and also a member of American Legion Auxiliary Post 196. Gladys retired from Guilford Textile Industries, Eastport, where she worked as a mender. In addition to her parents, Gladys was predeceased by her husband, Carl; a son, Carl Seeley Jr.; and all of her sisters and brothers. Gladys is survived by a son, Wayne Seeley and his wife, Roberta, of Edmunds; a daughter, Janice Yates and her husband, David, of Lubec; 10 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, a great-great-granddaughter; and a special niece, Joyce Dudley. Friends may call 1-2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 26, at Mays Funeral Home-Flagg Chapel, 72 High St., Eastport, where a funeral service will begin 2 p.m. with Pastor Ronald Windhorst officiating. Burial will take place at Dennysville Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Dennysville Ambulance Service, care of Roberta Seeley, 1935 U.S. Route 1, Edmunds Township, ME 04628.
