Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. today at Fort Logan National Cemetery in Denver for Leslie G. Seeley, a former Durango resident and trooper for the Colorado State Patrol, who died Friday, May 10, 2002, at his home in Ordway, Colo. He was 72.

Chad Bishop, Mr. Seeley’s grandson, will officiate. The Grand Masonic Lodge will pay tribute. Military honors will be given by the Marine Air Control Squadron 23, from Buckley Air Force Base in Aurora, Colo.

Mr. Seeley was born Aug. 28, 1929, in Matheson, Colo. He enlisted in the Merchant Marines in 1946, and served two years. After being discharged, he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps and fought in the Korean War.

He married Roberta Reeves on June 4, 1962, in Aurora. Mr. Seeley lived in Durango for 20 years, during which time he served in the Colorado State Patrol and was a member of Ignacio Baptist Church.

The family moved from Durango to Ordway 15 years ago, and Mr. Seeley worked for the State Department of Corrections at Ark Valley for six years. He retired in 1995 because of illness.

Mr. Seeley is survived by his wife, Roberta, of Ordway; a son, Arthur Ladd Seeley of Calhan, Colo.; three daughters, Charlotte Pearl Dell of Las Vegas, Sharon Kaye Bishop of Placentia, Calif., and Cynthia Diane Griswold of Corona, Calif.; a brother, Darrel Wayne Seeley of Nebraska; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to Ark Valley Hospice, either directly or through the Griffy Family Funeral Home, Ordway.
