Melvin Frank Seeley, Jr., 80, lifetime area resident, died Monday, March 15 at Memorial Hospital in Colorado Springs. Mr. Seeley was born in La Junta on Jan. 12, 1930, the son of Melvin Frank Seeley, Sr. and Avesta Beatrice Vahldick Seeley. He grew up in Rocky Ford and graduated from Rocky Ford High School in 1947. Mr. Seeley was united in marriage to MaDonna Kirton on Dec. 5, 1953 in Raton, New Mexico. For many years he ranched near Granby, Colo, later returning to Rocky Ford. For over ten years he managed the horse ranch for the YMCA of Denver.

Mr. Seeley is survived by his wife of the family home, one daughter, Trish (Steve) Woodman of Littleton, Colo; four sons, Rick (Martina) Hadley, George (Peggy) Seeley, and Lloyd (Norma) Seeley, all of Brownfield, Texas and Kenneth (Patty) Seeley of Rocky Ford. One brother, Norman (Jeannie) Seeley of Aurora; one sister, Charlene Noble of Cuero, Texas. Sixteen grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and dear friends Lois and Gene Smith also survive.

Mr. Seeley was a member of First United Methodist Church in Rocky Ford where services will be held at 2:00 p.m. today, Thursday, March 18 with Reverend Olga Hard officiating.

Casket bearers are grandchildren JR Hadley, Chester Hadley, Bud Seeley, Clint Woodman, Kirt Woodman. Kyle Woodman and Grant Seeley. Honorary escorts will be Xander Seeley, Michael Moses, Elijah Moses, Gavin Niles, CJ Hadley, Noah Hadley, and Mason Mericier. Final resting place will be at Chapels Hills Memorial Gardens in Denver. Memorials may be made to YMCA of Denver and Camp Chief Ouran.

Griffy Family Funeral Home of Fowler is in charge of arrangements.
