Calvin H. Seely (1928-2013)

WATERLOO -- Calvin Herbert Seely, 85, of Louisville, Colo., formerly of Waterloo, Vandalia, Ohio, and Osage Beach, Mo., died Wednesday, Oct. 16, at Balfour Retirement Community, Louisville.

He was born Aug. 14, 1928, in Wyandotte, Mich., son of John and Mazo Heiserman Seely. He married Carol Rube on Sept. 3, 1952, in Richmond, Ind. She died May 4, 2007.

Mr. Seely graduated from Reading High School, Reading, Mich., in 1946. He served in the U.S. Air Force in Okinawa during the Korean War, then at Wright Patterson Air Force Base, Dayton, Ohio. He worked for 40 years in the wholesale meat industry and served on the Osage Beach City Council.

Survived by: a son, Bruce (Cindy) of Oro Valley, Ariz.; three grandchildren, Sara (Jarrod) Chacon of Greeley, Colo., and Becky (Brett) Humpal and Mike Seely, both of North Liberty; a brother, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.

Preceded in death by: three brothers and a sister.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Friday in Memorial Chapel at Waterloo Memorial Park Cemetery, with full military rites by American Legion Post 138, VFW Post 1623 and the U.S. Air Force Funeral Honors Detail. Arrangements by Locke Funeral Home.

Memorials in lieu of flowers: may be directed to Alzheimer’s Association.
