ARTIST DIES AT HIS RESIDENCE

David William Seely Succumbs at Age of 77 years

David William Seely, 77, local artist, died at 7 a.m. Wednesday at his home, 538 S. Wittenberg av. Mr. Seely had been ailing for the last two months, but had not been seriously ill until the last couple of weeks.

He was born in Covington, O., and lived in that vicinity until he came to Springfield 33 years ago. He was a member of the Christian Church in St. Paris.

Mr. Seeley was well known in this community through his oil paintings and other work in art, to which he had devoted his entire life, having a studio at his home on S. Wittenberg av., which, for years had been a gathering place for his friends.

Besides his widow, Mrs. Lydia Seely, he is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Elizabeth McGregor and Mrs. Pearl Monroe; three sons, Ross, Mac and William; two great grandchildren and a sister, Mrs. Florence Hall in Oregon.

SEELY – David William Seely, 77, if 539 S. Wittenberg av., died at 7 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 18, 1928, at his home after a two months’ illness. Funeral services will be held at the residence. Burial will be made in Ferncliff cemetery.
