A memorial service was held Jan. 17 in Berkeley, Calif. for Robert (Bob) M. Seely of Berkeley who passed away Jan. 13, 2009 in Oakland, Calif.

Interment will follow at a later date in Spirit Lake.

He was born in Cherokee on Oct. 10, 1948 to Florence (Rupp) and Max Seely. They preceded him in death.

He was employed by the County of Alameda, Calif. as a Programmer Analyst for 28 years. He retired in 2007. He was injured in a diving accident on East Okoboji on June 28, 1967. During his years in Berkeley, he was an activist of the handicapped and worked diligently for accessibility.

He is survived by one brother, Loren and wife Ann of Sulphur Sprigs, Texas, and three sisters: Maxine and husband John Elser and Donna and husband Bob Elser, both of Lake Park and Joan and husband Jim Seamans of Great Falls, Va. He is also survived by 14 nieces and nephews and many friends.
