Billye McNyta "Nyta" Seely
Information provided by the family of Billye McNyta Seely (nee: Kimberlin)
“Nyta” as she preferred to be called was born in Oklahoma. She was named after her maternal Grandfather, David Mcknight Spain - with the more feminine spelling of McNyta. McNyta was also the name of her Aunt, her mother's older sister. She was Native American on her Mother's side and belonged to the Chickasaw Tribe - one of the 5 Civilized Tribes of Oklahoma. She was very proud of her Indian heritage.
Before moving to California, she was owner/operator of a Beauty Salon in Duncan, OK - and also part owner with her sisters of a beauty salon in Salinas CA. After moving to Madera she and her husband owned and operated a poultry farm.
Nyta was predeceased by her husband Marrell. She stayed in Madera for many years where one of her daughters lived. The daughter was with the Madera Police Dept. from 1972 to 1987. Nyta was a wonderful Grandmother and great help in raising 3 grandchildren in Madera.
Nyta went to Mission Viejo, CA about 1988 or 1989 where her oldest daughter lived until she passed away 7/7/1991.
Surviving Nyta were her three daughters, Patricia Clark, Carla Venita LaNois and Sharon Seely Hoffman, 8 grandchildren, and many friends and acquaintances.
