Arthur M. Seely

ARROYO GRANDE – A funeral service will be tomorrow (Thursday) at 11 a.m. at the Sunset Funeral Chapel in Grover City for Arthur Meacham Seely, 88, with burial to be in the Arroyo Grande Cemetery.

Mr. Seely was born in Arroyo Grande on Jan. 4, 1895. A lifelong resident of Arroyo Grande he graduated from Arroyo Grande High School in 1914 where he was an athlete. He served in the United States Navy during World War I and was a life member of American Legion Post No. 136 in Arroyo Grande.

Mr. Seely was an avid hunter and fisherman and was a member of the South County Senior Citizens. In 1961 he retired as a manager for the Union Sugar Company in Betteravia, for whom he was employed with for 11 years.

Mr. Seely died Tuesday, March 1, 1983 in an Arroyo Grande hospital.

He is survived by his wife, Ethel M. Seely of Arroyo Grande; one son, Earl W. Seely of Davis; one daughter, Miriam S. Low of Salinas; one sister, Elleta Caine of Arroyo Grande; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
