FRED SEELY
Fred B. Seely, 84, 525 Pepper Avenue, Hillsborough, died Sunday at Mills Memorial Hospital after an illness. He was a native of Chester, N.Y., and a local resident for four years.
He was a retired professor of engineering at University of Illinois, after teaching for 43 years.
Survivors include his wife, Anna, and two sons, Ralph W., Hillsborough, and Irving R., Lafayette, and six grandchildren.
He was a member of the American Society for Testing Materials, the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, the American Society for Engineering Education, the Tau Beta Phi, Sigma Psi, and Phi Gamme Delta. He was an author of numerous engineering textbooks.
He was a 1907 graduate of Worcester Polytechnic Institute, with a master’s degree from University of Illinois.
Private funeral services were held this afternoon from Crosby-N. Gray Chapel. Interment will be in Champaign, Ill. Memorial contributions may be made to the University of Illinois Foundation Fred B. Seely Scholarship Fund.
