40-Year Modestan Dies at 96

A resident of Modesto for 40 years, Mary Elizabeth Seelye died in a local rest home yesterday after a lengthy illness. She was 96.

Born in Illinois, she had been a member of the Progressive Womens Club, the Daughters of the American Revolution, the First Christian Church, the Garden Club and the Womens Improvement Club, all in Modesto.

Survivors include a son, C.C. O’sborne of Sacramento; a daughter, Thelma O. Pugh of Modesto; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Services are pending in the Franklin & Downs Funeral Home.
