Ellen Angeline Seeley Passes Away on Sunday

Mrs. Ellen Angeline Seeley, 88, mother of Mrs. C.G. Irvine, passed away quietly Sunday afternoon at the home of her friend, Mrs. Bertha Ferguson, with whom she was visiting for a few minutes. She was resting in a comfortable chair when it was discovered that she had passed away without warning.

Funeral services were held Tuesday morning at 10 o’clock from the Keeney funeral home with Rev. A.J. Neufeld, pastor of the Methodist church officiating. Interment followed at Oregon City.

Ellen Angeline Ryan was born in New York January 18, 1847, where she spent her childhood. She completed her early education in Illinois and taught school for a number of years in Chicago. She was united in marriage to Erastus Orren. Two daughters and a son were born of the union. With her husband she went to Colorado where they took up a homestead which became the townsite of Otis, now a thriving city. They came to Oregon in 1902 and located at Oregon City where they made their home until 1919 when they moved to Independence. Mr. Seeley passed away here, exactly 13 years before her death, September 29, 1922.

She was a life long member of the Methodist church and was active in affairs of the organization.

She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. C.G. Irvine, Independence and a son, J.E. Seeley of Portland.

Among those from out of town to attend the funeral were, Miss Helen Harper, Tacoma, granddaughter; Mr. and Mrs. Earl McDonough, Seattle, granddaughter; Mr. and Mrs. Glen Seeley, Salem; grandson; Mr. and Mrs. Bland Finch, Portland, granddaughter; Mr. and Mrs. Earl Seeley, Portland, son and Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Seeley, Portland, grandson.
