Verdie Robinson Succumbs as Street Car Rammed

Verdie Robinson, wife of Jack A. Robinson, 3127 Southwest Hume street, died at St. Vincent’s hospital early today of a skull fracture and other injuries suffered when an automobile driven by Mr. Robinson, in which she was a passenger, rammed a stationary Mississippi avenue street car at North Denver avenue and McCullen street.

Robinson also suffered a head injury and was taken to the same hospital.

The street car was operated by H.P. Angell, Patrolmen Howard Frew and M.T. Fleming reported.

CAR KILLING RAISES YEAR’S TOLL TO 25

Death of Woman Breaks 20-Day Period

Portland’s traffic toll for the year rose to 25early yesterday with the death of Mrs. Verdie Robinson, 3127 Southwest Hume street, at Vincent’s hospital.

She suffered fatal injuries when the automobile driven by her husband, Jack A. Robinson, crashed into a stopped streetcar at North Denver avenue and McClellan street. Robinson is confined to St. Vincent’s hospital in serious condition.

The 25 fatalities since the first of January show an average of one traffic death every eight days, compared to an average of one death in each five days of last year.

Mrs. Robinson was the first person to be killed in a traffic mishap this month and the first since June 28 – 20 days ago.

ROBINSON – June 18, Alberta Eva Robinson, aged 36 years, wife of Jack A. Robbinson, of 3127 S.W. Hume, daughter of Mrs. Catherine Kalumback. Remains have been removed to Pearson’s Funeral Church, Knott st at Union ave. Funeral notice later.
