Sarah Ann Seely At Rest

Sarah Ann Kauffman, a pioneer of 1856, passed away at the home of her son Blaine, three miles east of Woodburn, Jan. 16, 1927, of typhoid fever. All her surviving children and one sister were present at her bedside. The deceased was born Sept. 29, 1856, at Stafford, Ore., where she lived until she married Stephen Bishop Seely in 1875. This couple built their home at Wilsonville, where they resided for 48 years. To this union were born 10 children. In 1923 they left the home place and came to live with their son Blaine, where the father passed away June 6, 1924. Surviving her are 6 children. They are, according to age, Mrs. O.F. Larson, Woodburn; Charles N. of Dayton, Wash.; Bert G. and Walter Blaine of Woodburn; Mrs. Frank Brobst of Wilsonville, and Ralph K., of Woodburn. She also leaves 3 sisters, Mrs. Mary Seely of Wilsonville, Mrs. Martha Moore of Troutdale, Wash., and Mrs. Nora Martin of Victoria, B.C., and 20 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at the M.E. church at Wilsonville, Tuesday January 18, at 1 p.m. Rev. J.M. Barber, an old friend of the family, officiated, assisted by the local pastor. Interment was at the Stafford cemetery.
