George M. Seely

SITKUM – Ritualistic Masonic services will be held for George M. Seely, 73, Sitkum, at 2 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 18, at Amling/Schroeder Myrtle Point Chapel with Frank Sanders and the Myrtle Lodge No. 78 A.F.&A.M. conducting. Interment will follow at Dora Cemetery.

He was born June 17, 1918, in Portland, and died Dec. 15, 1991, at Myrtle Point.

Mr. Seely grew up in the northern California and Roseburg area. He served in the U.S. Army, retiring in 1962, after 21 years of service. He followed a civil service career as an electronics engineer. He married Christine McDonald, Aug. 27, 1948, at Amite, LA.

The moved to Sitkum from Germany in 1973. He was a life member of Myrtle Lodge No. 78 A.F.&A.M. of Myrtle Point, past master and recently installed as 1992 master for lodge. He was also a member of the Occidental Council No. 12, Cryptic Masons, the Pacific Commandery No. 10, Knights Templar.

He was a Scottish Rite 32 Degree Mason and a member of the Coquille Valley Chapter No. 57 of the Royal Arch Masons, the Beulah Chapter No. 6 O.E.S., deputy of District No. 24 for the Grand Master of the Grand Lodge of Oregon.

He was a member of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees, the National Camping Travelers, “Oregon Sanddrifters” chapter; Coquille Valley Elks Lodge No. 1935; the American Legion; the Coos County Shrine Club; the Hillah Temple Shrine and a life member of the National Rifle Association.

Survivors include his wife, Christine of Sitkum; sons, George G. Seely of Sitkum; daughters, Carolyn Schwab and her husband, Don of Roseburg, Marilyn Hildebrand and her husband, Wayne, and Cheryl Seely, all of Myrtle Point, brother, Harry Seely of Vancouver, Wash.; sisters, Dorothy Godfrey of Vavenby, British Columbia, Canada, Marjorie White of Melrose; five grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family suggests memorial contributions in his memory to the Home Endowment Fund of the Grand Lodge of Oregon, care of Grant Combs, P.O. Box 247, Myrtle Point, 97458.

The casket will be open for visitation, Tuesday, Dec. 17, from noon until 8 p.m., at the Amling/Schroeder Myrtle Point Chapel.
