Gustie Myrtle SEELY

Death at Alsea – Miss Gusta Myrtle Seeley died yesterday afternoon at five o’clock at the family home at Alsea, where she had resided the past 25 years. The funeral service will be held at Alsea Sunday morning at 11 o’clock, Rev. W.D. Risley officiating, and burial will be in the Alsea cemetery. Deceased was a sister of Mrs. S.N. Warfield of Corvallis and had numerous other relatives in the county. She was known to a number of Carvallisites who will learn with regret of her demise. Miss Seeley was a native of Illinois.

In Memoriam Gustie M. Seely

Gustie Myrtle Seely, daughter of William and Elizabeth Jane Seely was born at White Hall, Green County, Illinois, January 23rd, 1880. In 1888, her parents moved to Oregon, locating near Eugene and to Alsea in 1889, where she has since made her home. She passed away at her home at 5 o’clock Friday, July 30, 1920, being 40 years, 6 months, 7 days of age. Funeral services were conducted at 11 o’clock, August 1st, at Alsea cemetery by Rev. W.D. Risley.

Altho she was no a member of any organized Church, she was a true faithful Christian whose life was one of loving devotion to her family and of kindly consideration to all who came within her home.

Her parents have preceded her into the realm of light, as has also three brothers and two sisters; one Brother Elmer J. Seely, passed away three years ago in Oakland, California. She is also survived by three brothers and three sisters. Charlie and Harry of Alsea, Oregon; Curtis of Aumsville, Oregon, Lana Neal and Inez McNelly of Portland, Oregon, and Lucie Warfield of Corvallis, Oregon. Besides these, there is a host of relatives and friend who will miss her and sincerely mourn her early departure.
