Irene Seely, garden columnist

Irene Elizabeth Sharrow Seely, 78, Klamath Falls, died Sunday in Klamath Falls.

Mrs. Seely was born Nov. 19, 1907, in Oak Grove to Harry and Mary Blaine Sharrow.

She graduated from Oregon Normal School in Monmouth July 23, 1930.

She was married to Lloyd Glenn Seely at Timberland Ranch near Grand Ronde Aug. 24, 1930.

Mrs. Seely was a primary grade teacher for 18 years, manager of Teachers Credit Union for two years and curator of the Klamath County Museum for three years.

For many years, she was a garden columnist for the Herald and News.

She was a member of the Juniper Garden Club and a life member of the Oregon State Federation Garden Clubs.

She had senior standing at Oregon State College, was a member of Peace Memorial Presbyterian Church, was a teacher of the adult Bible study, McKenzie Circle, at the church, was a non-active member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and was a member of Retired Educators, Senior Citizens and the Diabetic Association.

Survivors include her husband Lloyd, Klamath Falls; son, Lloyd Seely, Jr., Lakeview; twin granddaughters, Chantel and Nichelle Seely, both Lakeview.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in O’Hair’s Funeral Chapel. Concluding services will follow at Eternal Hills Memorial Gardens.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Peace Memorial Presbyterian Church Memorial Fund, 4431 S. Sixth St., Klamath Falls.
