Harold M. Seelye

Harold M. Seelye, 68, died Monday evening in the Seaside hospital.

The son of Walter and Elizabeth Richards Seelye, he was born Oct. 11, 1910, in Everett, Wash. He received his education in Bellingham and Lummi Island, Wash. Following his schooling he worked as a logger and owned a woodyard near Wenatchee, Wash. He then worked for the Department of Interior on the construction of Bonneville Dam.

He came to Seaside in 1942 and went to work for Crown Zellerbach, primarily as a sawfiler and was with them 33 years.

Mr. Seelye was a member of IOOF Lodge 238; past member of the Seaside Moose Lodge 798; a charter member of the Sheriff’s Reserve; a member of the I.W.A. Local 34; and a charter member of the Clatsop County Rodeo Association.

He married Neva Ogilbie in Prosser, Wash., on June 20, 1933. She survives him at their home in Seaside.

Also surviving is a son, David Seelye, Seaside; a daughter, Judy New, Nehalem; a brother, Melvin Seelye, Bellingham; five sisters, Thelma Hanson and Edna Elmore, both of Bellingham, Verlie Kent and Mildred Walrath, both of Las Vegas, Nev., and Beatrice Seelye, Wenatchee, Wash.; two grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Thursday. Arrangements in care of Hughes-Ransom Mortuary, Seaside. Contributions may be made to the Clatsop County Rodeo Association, for which cards are available at the mortuary.
