Jean Seeley And M. Thomas Gaylord Exchange Vows In a candlelight service at 7:30 Saturday evening Jean Seeley exchanged the marriage vows with M. Thomas Gaylord. The bride’s parents are Mr. and Mrs. Charles D. Seeley of R.D. Wellington. Palms, baskets of lilies and two candelabra decorated St. Thomas Episcopal church in Berea for the ceremony, which was performed by the Rev. Gilbert Appelhoff, Jr. Jack Elliot, fraternity brother of the groom, sang “Because,” “Always,” “I Love You Truly,” and “The Lord’s Prayer.” Mr. Seeley escorted his daughter to the altar. For her wedding gown the bride chose heavy white slipper satin designed with a high stand-up collar, buttoned front, long sleeves ending in ruffles over the hands and a train. The dress was hand sewn by Mrs. Marjorie Funk, sister of the bride. With it she wore a fingertip veil caught to a pixie cap with pearl trim and carried a white orchid on a nurse’s Bible, with white rosebuds and ivy in the streamers. Mrs. Funk attended her sister as matron of honor, wearing a yellow taffeta frock with low round neckline, peplum accented with cord trim and matching mitts and cap. Her flowers were rose carnations with white rosebuds and ivy. Similarly styled gowns were worn by the bridesmaids, Miss Jean Seely, sister of the bride was dress in aqua and carried yellow carnations with white rosebuds and ivy. Miss Marion Gierick, the bride’s classmate in nursing, was clad in rose taffeta and carried yellow carnations with white rosebuds and ivy. All the attendants’ gowns were made by Mrs. Funk. Harry Marshall, fraternity brother of the groom, served as best man. Ushers were Frank Birsa, another fraternity brother, and Robert Babits of Ypsilanti, Mich. Following the wedding a reception for approximately 100 guests was held at Lambda Chi Alpha House in Berea. Table decorations included the three tiered wedding cake, carnations and candles. Mrs. Seeley attended her daughter’s wedding and reception in a navy print dress complemented by a navy straw hat and white accessories. The groom’s mother was attired in a two piece navy dress with a navy straw hat trimmed in white and white accessories. Both had corsages of yellow and rose carnations with a white rosebud and a sprig of ivy. Before leaving on a week’s wedding trip on unannounced destination the bride donned an aqua suit and cream colored topper with a black straw hat and black accessories. She wore an orchid corsage. On returning from their trip she and her husband will make their home at 327 Kenyon avenue. The new Mrs. Gaylord is a graduate of Wellington high school with the 1947 class and M.B. Johnson School of Nursing with the class of 1950. She is employed as office nurse by Dr. Norman Basinger of Elyria. A graduate of Ridgeville high school with the class of 1947, Mr. Gaylord is now a senior at Baldwin-Wallace college and expects to be graduated this June. He is a member of Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity.
