Lucy Stone SEELY

It is with sadness that we are called upon to chronicle the death of Mrs. Mark Seely at her home in Hood View last Saturday evening, Sept. 1, 1917, in the 37th year of her life. Before her marriage about fifteen years ago, to Mr. Seely, she was Lucy Todd, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A.P. Todd, and was born in McCoy, in Polk county, Oregon, on July 16, 1881, and was therefore 36 years, 1 month and 10 days of age.

The deceased leaves to mourn her loss, her husband, 5 daughters, the eldest only 13 years old, parents and several brothers and sisters, Oliver Todd, one of the rural carriers, being a brother, and he and his family attended the funeral. She was a loveable character and made friends with all with whom she came in contact, and will be missed from among them.

The funeral services were held Monday afternoon at the Congregational church in Hood View, of which she was a member, Rev. Barber, the pastor, delivering the discourse to a large and sympathetic audience. W.W. Hollingsworth & Son had charge of funeral arrangements, and the remains were laid to rest in the hood View cemetery.

The loss to the five daughters in this hour is unmeasured, as the sympathetic and counseling voice of a loving and devoted mother is stilled forever.
